      If looking at the 2024 bows, for a short draw like that, it’s going to be hard not to recommend the lift 29.5 as my #1 option, followed by the alpha x 30, then the cores SS in performance setting.

      That is a great assumption. However, If you watch my videos, you will know that I did not spend 3k on my setup. I never said anything about buying a cheap setup. Thanks for watching though.

    Everyone's setup "needs" are different and what works for one may not work for another. A 425g arrow isn't the same for everyone and absolutely won't work for some, same goes for a 600g arrow setup. I go by shooting the heaviest setup possible within an acceptable/preferred trajectory. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of a setup and balances both needs and preferences. Shoot what works, until it doesn't, then make adjustments. Experience is always going to be our best teacher. Sounds like you have thought and confidence in your setup, that's the best we can all ask of one another. I always appreciate hearing about another hunter's setup and best of luck this season!

    Interesting finding on the aluminum vs titanium outserts. I’ve had the same experiences but never really thought about it. It’s probably a lot more cost efficient to replace outserts over an entire shaft. I’m wondering how it affects the straightness of the shaft after you bend the aluminum outsert and replace it.

    • @BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
      @BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial 5 дней назад

      From what I have seen, it has not changed the straightness of the shaft. Once I change the component, the arrow spins completely straight on the arrow spinner.

    There is no accurate or truthful data that proves you need over a 480gr arrow for anything in N.A. There is a lot of data that proves maximizing a combination speed and arrow weight to gain optimal KE is a better approach coupled with a well tuned bow and sharp broadheads, see Joel Maxfield and Eric Newmans work. Long draw guys (30"+) may end up over 500gr just because of spine and GPI of arrows, but are not sacrificing the importance of a good speed/weight combination. Broadhead sharpness, bow tune, and a lot of practice outweigh the need for a heavy arrow.

    • @Practice2Perfection
      @Practice2Perfection 5 дней назад

      The point is not whether you need a heavy arrow for anything in North America. The point is that to penetrate bone, CONSISTENTLY you need a heavier set up. Not the weight but much rather the FOC helps the most. You can pass through most animals with 400gns or even less. But this set up has a higher failure rate when penettrating bone consistently. Perfect arrow flight, single bevel broadheads, and high FOC 19%+ tend to have a much higher rate of successful pass throughs even when impacting heavier bone. This is all about decreasing failure rate when impacting bone. Arguing that a lighter set up can pass through bone with the same level of success as a heavier, high FOC setup is just factually untrue and silly. Mentally of having it and not needing it, rather than needing it and not having it.

    • @scottpenman7968
      @scottpenman7968 5 дней назад

      I know that heavier arrows have an advantage when hitting a heavy bone. However, a shoulder blade doesn’t stop a 420 grain arrow at 290 fps. Vertical accuracy is better with a a faster arrow when an animal take a couple steps and sense I don’t aim at heavy bones and animals move often I think it’s a fair trade off to have better vertical accuracy vs maybe being able to penetrate an an elks heavy leg bone. Also I believe an elk has higher chance of survival if it in a leg bone than with a heavy arrow.

    • @o.n.e.wayhunting
      @o.n.e.wayhunting 5 дней назад

      The reality is this, you can build two arrows of differing weights, give them the same KE and different momentums, and they will penetrate the same. Take two more arrows, give them the same momentum and differing KEs, and the one with the higher KE will out penetrate the other. Speed matters, and is absolutely relevant in penetration. But so is shot placement and sharp broadheads, and a well tuned bow. I do like some FOC, 14% is usually what I find good, but there are also tests out there that disprove its importance with compound bows and penetration. If we were shooting stick bows, at dead animals, that barely broke 200fps, a heavier arrow would be important, because we would be entirely depending on weight for KE. But with modern compounds, I can usually get a 460gr arrow cruising at 290fps, and that is the best of both worlds with a sharp broadhead, and the bow tuned well.

    My opinion, at 27"draw and arrows cut at 26" I believe a standard long range will be just as straight as a match grade. Think it's only a must with a longer drawlength and shaft. The match grade components do seem to be a big upgrade from the original. I'm a 29" draw and usually cut 4" off my shafts and usually all the .003 will be glass like my .001 shafts.

    You say not very fast but inch for inch if measured it’s faster than the lift which I own and the Hoyt with a much softer draw than both. Mathews at 30 measures just over 30 1/4 and about 82 percent let off. M30 at 30 inches and 80 percent let off measures 29 3/4. Take 5fps off the lift for the .5 inch longer draw and another 4-5 fps for the pse being 68 pounds. That’s your 10 fps difference you’re seeing right there. Inch for inch pound for pound it’s spot on with the lift 29.5 but SIGNIFICANTLY easier to draw. Not sure if you’re getting that far into detail but if you do you’ll see it all clearly. I’ll post these numbers for ya of my 2 bows with 20 grains calculated on the string. Lift 33 measured AMO DL 27.75 74 pounds 82% let off (pretty much where the SWX cam falls on every one of their 85 percent mods) 440 grain arrow 283 fps Calculated ibo would be 335fps. Mach 30 DS measured AMO DL 27.75 70.5 pounds 80% let off Same 440 grain arrow same chrono 286 fps Calculated ibo 344fps That’s a true test of speed comparison with all variables measured. Just about every Mach 30 I’ve seen has came in low 340s ibo when measured correctly. Even yours when you account for the average weight in a string of 20 grains and measured DL yours jumps to 344 ibo.

    • @BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
      @BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial 5 дней назад

      From the testing that I’ve done, just because a bow shoots a 440gr arrow at a certain speed, does not mean it will translate to a heavier or lighter arrow in the same ratio. For example, Hoyt tends to shoot a heavier arrow better while still maintaining more speed. Thank you for taking the time to comment. It is always good to see other people’s input.

    • @jwild5360
      @jwild5360 5 дней назад

      @@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial while that’s true I’m not really sure how that has anything to do with what I’ve said about all the speeds. Dont care for the guy MFJJ but if you watch his speed test the Mach 30 is 4fps faster than the lift 29.5 when set up identical and still has over 1/4” measured shorter draw.

    • @BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
      @BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial 5 дней назад

      It applies to your statement about speeds because you used speeds shot with a 440gr arrow to calculate a projected ibo. Projected ibo is not the same as shooting the bow with a 350gr arrow, which I have done with both bows that you referenced. The numbers for both the lift and the Mach 30 are recorded in the videos. The Mach 30 did draw less weight, which I said in the video would contribute to slightly slower speeds, but when the bow is to spec, I’m not going to put a bow out of spec to try to get it to pull more weight or shoot faster.

    • @jwild5360
      @jwild5360 5 дней назад

      @@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial if it didn’t make weight it wasn’t in spec as that’s one of the specs. ATA and brace is An average number of all the bows made it has a variance. You also didn’t account for DL difference either. When tested apples to apples tour numbers are way off. Not taking anything from what you’re doing don’t take it the wrong way. Again refer to MFJJ video where the same scales and arrows are being used and the actual DL is measure and you’ll see the results I posted are number for number accurate.

      Draw weight is not a reflection of a bow being in spec. If it were, then most bows would not come in drawing an average of 72lbs when they are 70# bows. Axle to axle and brace height are measured on all the bows I test. They are shot through the same chrono, with the same arrows. And in this case the draw length of the mach 30 did measure the same as the lift. I have however had other bows that did measure shorter or longer, just not in this instance. On my scoring sheet the speed scores have a range in which a bow gets a certain score for its speed. So a bow could be slightly slower or faster than another and still get the same score.

    Just curious on the limb issue that lots of people (not everyone that owns the lift just want to be clear on that) are having would you still choose the mathews over the hoyt? Ive never owned a hoyt but hearing lots of great things about the alpha x and thinking about getting one. I am still shooting a mathews no cam htx.

      Both are amazing bows, and will feel like quite an upgrade to your current setup. The no cam was a great bow, but no comparison to either of the bows in this video. With that said, I would still pick the Lift. I have shot the lift since April and have not had any issues. The one thing I will is, is that the bows that have had issues, seem to be in the longer draw lengths with 70 + lbs. I am shooting 27” draw with 76# and have not had any issues. My lift has been the best bow I’ve owned.

    You all worriwd about hand shock and vibration just because someone started saying it lol. Literally it dont matter at all its after the shot it has 0 effect on the damn shot itself. You all think way to much into it anymore. Omg i dont want it cuz it has a tiny millisecond vibration after the shot😂😂😂

      @@stephensheldon8396 I don’t think anyone is really worried about hand shock and vibration. It is just another variable that can be used to compare bows. Also generally speaking, the vibration goes hand in hand with how quiet a bow is.

    My LIFT33 has turned out to be somewhat disappointing because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HOW IT SHOOTS…….. I made the comment earlier about my limbs being replaced 4 times and Mathews (SCHEELS The Colony TX) replaced my bow. Only to have the limbs on that bow splinter also. Those limbs were replaced on Monday and today (Wednesday) my limbs splintered again! Nothing out of the ordinary here; 31.5/72/85….. 29.5”/472 grain Sirius Gemini arrows w/ 50 grain podium titanium half out and 125 grain field point.

      That’s wild. I have heard the horror stories of limbs cracking. I hate to hear that yours was an issue. As of the last conversation between Mathews and Grafton, they are saying that it is an issue in less than 1% of the lifts.

You can compare them there if you would like. If I’m not mistaken, I recorded the speeds in comfort for the bowtech, but after shooting them in performance, the speeds we roughly 10fps faster than comfort at all draw lengths. Hope this helps.
